HEAR ME TALK ABOUT ORANGES
I've been selected to give a Place Talk at the Prelinger Library! I'll be talking about all the work oranges do to represent place and hold space, and investigating how a Jewish tradition has become alienated from its queer roots. My talk is March 14, 2019 if you want to plan ahead.
MILLS OAKLAND WRITERS WORKSHOP
I’m teaching a writing workshop called Bodies and Forms at Mills College on Saturday, November 10 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. It’s free and open to the public. Join me!
I COLLABORATED WITH CATALINA OUYANG
Artist Catalina Ouyang invited writers to create "translations" of the conclusion of the Title IX report from the 2016 investigation of her sexual assault at her undergraduate university. I imagined a long, messy conversation among a jury of the "Complainant's" peers. Others wrote spare, haunting poems. See the project here, and my contribution here.
SMALL TIME IN MARCH
I traveled to Point Arena, CA for the Small Time residency: a collaboration between Small Press Traffic and This Will Take Time. I had a great time, wrote a lot, walked to the ocean, consistently relied on other residents to make fires in the fireplace. This is a skill I need to work on.
I WROTE A LETTER
I was invited to contribute a letter to McSweeney's Issue 51. I wrote about neo-Nazis, the grody remnants of the Summer of Love, and wanting a mezuzah.
NEBRASKA WAS GREAT
I had a wonderful time at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts and am now back home, working on the book while distracted by family, friends, work, and my cat.
